Today, my dear friends, you have the important honor of deciding which old quilt gets finished and given new life as a humble creation! (Ok, well maybe it's not really that much of an honor...but help a crafting sister out!) Plus, I have a giveaway today and everyone who votes gets a chance to win!
I invite you to cast your vote for one of the following contestants by leaving a comment below. Whichever unfinished quilt is selected will be my next completion and I'll share it on the blog. When you leave a vote you will be entered for a chance to win this fun Valentine fabric (1 yard). Maybe the winner could even make a pillow just in time for February 14!
Contestant 1: Pink & Yellow Stars
This abandoned quilt is probably the closest to being finished. It was originally intended as a wedding gift for a friend who loves yellow, but she's about to celebrate her 6th anniversary, so I believe that ship has sailed. It is comprised of 20 coordinating fat quarters and I don't know yet who or where will enjoy her if finished.
Contestant 2: Red, Black, Green Scrappy Squares
This quilt was originally intended for our bedroom, but I kept getting distracted making baby quilts and pushed this one aside. These colors are no longer the basis of my bedroom, so if finished, this quilt will likely make its home as a comfy throw in the living area.
Contestant 3: This train quilt was originally intended for my nephew in my pre-children days. He just turned 8. Enough said.
Why, you may ask, am I airing out my closet of abandoned creations and asking for your vote? I've been enjoying so many inspiring quilts in bloggy land and I've had an itch to get back into quilting more. While my initial desire is to start from scratch with something more modern, less scrappy and in different colors, I am trying to be a good steward of the resources of time and money. I figured it was a lot less expensive to finish a quilt in which I had already invested time and fabric. Since these are quilts I've looked at for a long time and lost interest in, I thought a few new sets of eyes might give a fresh view and inspire me to get goin'!
So cast your vote for Contestant 1, 2 or 3 in the comment section below and be entered to win the yard of Valentine fabric. You only have a few days! I will announce the winner of the giveaway (and the quilt with the most votes) on Monday at my Monday Makeover for Your Table link party. After that, I guess I'll whip up a quilt of your choosing!
Thanks for your help, my friends!

I think that contestant #2 gets my vote. I like the colors in this one the best.
ReplyDeleteI really like them all! My mom is an avid quilter and has been quilting for years, one day I hope to have enough time to start quilting myself. As far as votes, I really like #1 it is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteGet that mama to teach you! You can just sneak quilting in spurts like I do!
DeleteHey girl! I personally like Contestant 2 - Red, Black, Green Scrappy Squares. It's very striking and pretty and different! However, if you have #1 almost finished, maybe finishing that one will give you that sense of accomplishment to finish the others! =D They're all great!
ReplyDeleteYes, the feeling of accomplishment would be nice. But hey, I'm letting "the people" decide, so I guess we'll see! :)
DeleteEven though my grandson would vote for contestant number 3, I really love #2... Those colors are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh, I definitely vote for number three. See, I have 2 very young grandsons, who are both train nuts, LOL What a fun quilt that would be!

Wilma,
DeleteMy nephew was a train nut too, but since he's outgrown that, I'm hoping my baby boy will be :)
I vote number One. It's the closest to completion and will give great satisfaction that its done and maybe give you the boost you need (Like so many of us do to finish time consuming projects that can take weeks) I'm sure you can gift it away or use it in your home...tablecloth? throw?...their all gorgeous and have endless possibilities.. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love that your vote is so practical and also takes into consideration my emotions/spirit. You are clearly good at pep talks!
DeleteOooo...I love to give my opinion - - and the possibility of being rewarded with cute fabric? Always a plus!
ReplyDelete#2 really draws me in - - I think it's the contrast of the lighter fabrics with the darker. And also, the fact that you have a place for it in your house makes it a winner in terms of practicality. That's my vote!
I'm amazed at your handiwork on all three! I'm so impressed. In fact, I think you could write a book called Quilting for Smart Girls and put Quilting for Dummies outta print. ;-)
Ha! Very good because I'm sending Quilting for Dummies to you!
DeleteI am voting number one!! I love the combination of colors!! Great idea and best of luck!!
ReplyDeleteI am voting for number 1. I love them all but love the colors of 1!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful for all of you, my readers and visitors and supporters! Thanks for taking time to vote. I'm loving all the different perspectives and can't wait to see which project wins (and which voter too of course). Thanks y'all!
ReplyDeleteThat looked nice and I think I’ll make one of that kind.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for number 2. Love the colors! My daughter is just learning to sew, and because I never learned, she is teaching me. A project like this is years away for us, but...we could make a pillow!
ReplyDeleteThat is soooo hard I love the first and the second! I love the yellow, pink, and green in the first...but the second one is so cozy. So I think I pick 2. Love this finishing projects theme! Having people vote is a great motivator. :)
ReplyDeleteI vote for the scrappy squares! :)
ReplyDeleteI stopped by via The Grow Your Own Blog Party ~ what a great event! Your quilts are beautiful.
All three are wonderful! I love the colors in your scrappy quilt - so pretty! The train track borders on number three are adorable. I'll put my vote in for number one, though. Star blocks are my favorite to quilt with and I really love the beautiful fabric combinations you used in it. It's also the closest to completion, so you'll get that wonderful boost right away from finishing it!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, thanks for airing your skeletons! (We all have them, don't we!) I have three quilts sitting pinned that were in my closet for years up until two weeks ago. A friend and I decided it's a goal this year to finish our quilts and hopefully put them to use. Happy quilting to you!
Laurie
DeleteMaybe we should just trade skeletons and finish each other's quilts!
I vote pink and yellow stars!!!!!! Do it! Do it! Do it! C'mon...you KNOW that's the one you want to finish! Just do it! Go, Jessica...go!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlycia,
DeleteIf elections were won by enthusiasm alone, your candidate would surely always be the winner!
Jessica, they are all very pretty. You have obviously put a lot of work into them.I cast my vote for #1.Yellow is one of my favorite colors, so I like the yellow in it. The stars have all those pieces and points, which I know are not always easy to assemble, so you probably already put a lot of time into those. Also, since your little princess favors the color pink, she might enjoy seeing it finished.
ReplyDeleteGood reasoning, Lynn. Miss K hasn't paid attention to my pile of UFOs in the living room yet, but you're right in guessing she would vote for pink!
DeleteThese are all beautiful! You are so talented! I wouldn't even know where to begin with quilting! I'm loving #1!
ReplyDeleteJenna @ http://www.rainonatinroof.com
I would say finish # 2, you must have loved those colors. The quilt is one that would be lovely in any home and it would be nice for your home to have a new cozy quilt.
ReplyDeleteGood reasoning! You can never have too much cozy in a home!
DeleteThey are all lovely and deserving to be finished, but my vote is gonna be for #2
ReplyDeleteI vote #2. Why not have a giveaway with the prize an ufo? I would love to have one. babscorbitt@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteOh Barb, that's a great idea...but then I'd be sending work to someone! It would be interesting to see the spin of how another quilter might finish it out.
DeleteI vote for number 2. Love the colors and lines in this quilt.
