When you read you begin with ABC..."
When you sew, you begin with "Please Help Me!"
This is the song I sing as I am branching out to new forms of sewing beyond the art of quiltmaking. While I have quilted for many years, I am new to the world of 3-dimensional projects, buttons, and zippers... oh my! To improve upon my novice skills, gain confidence, and get motivated I am joining in some sew alongs.
Kate at See Kate Sew is the master of providing easy to follow {free} patterns, motivation, options, and highly visual tutorials. So I jumped at the chance to participate in her current sew along:
Kate must have heard my song with its cry for help (and known I can't find my sewing machine's manual! Eek!) because she provided a very helpful tutorial on creating a buttonhole for this project.
This fun little clutch is a birthday gift for a friend, but it was so much fun to make and turned out so cute, I'm already starting on one for me. If you're interested in making one (or 2 or 10!) and linking up your finished creation to Kate's sew along go check out the details at her blog See Kate Sew. And many thanks to the wonderfully creative Kate for the pattern, tutorial and inspiration!
Happy Creating!

Wow! I'm so impressed! Your first button-hole is QUITE professional looking. And this envelope clutch is SO cute; what a wonderful gift for a friend. Glad you captured some pics of it before giving it away. It's QUITE the accomplishment. (Now, you've inspired me to get on those sewing projects that have been calling my name....)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren! Can't take too much credit for the button hole - one of the nice things about the newer machines is they do most of the work! Can't wait to see your upcoming sewing projects...your bag?!
DeleteMy friend seemed to like the gift. She did say "it's a giant envelope!" but in a positive way :)
